Upleveling the Law of Attraction
By now we are all familiar with The Law of Attraction. Well, I was having a conversation with a friend about the changes I have been making in my business life. Pulling back from my 18-year real estate career and stepping forward in a new direction.
“Do you have a vision of what you want it all to look like? Can you see the end and visualize what you want?” he asked.
“Well, mostly…” I replied.
“What do you mean, he said, growing more animated as he spoke, that’s what all these books you are reading are saying you have to do in order to be successful! You have to have a clear vision of what you want to manifest in the world and see it all right down to the minute details in order for it to work!” He sounded genuinely concerned for me, as he had been watching me push through my fears and struggle with resistances over the past few months as I make this personal shift.
He is not the first person I have had the conversation about manifesting your dreams with The Law of Attraction. I’ve spoken to business coaches, philosophical friends and spiritual advisors who have recommended the same method: Visualizing in detail and strengthening that visualization with feeling and gratitude in order to get what I want out of life.
Something in this Law of Attraction seems out of order. I don’t know about you, but I certainly have done my darndest to manifest like a mofo and when I got want I wanted, found it to be just another “effing growth opportunity”. I really have zero interest in having my ego manifest anything at all anymore.
I operate from a different paradigm. My Law of Attraction resides in Receptive Surrender to Inspired Action (more on this topic in a future blog).
Don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean that I sit in lotus position and OM my way through life. I absolutely believe in having dreams, feeling the emotions of success and gratitude for something not yet realized in order to draw it forward. And yet, the words of Paramansa Yogananda come to mind when he said that the highest form of prayer is “God, as you wish”. I have adopted his mantra as my secret to “The Secret” and complete my meditations and visualizations with these sage words of surrender.
My intention for my life today is simply to remove anything that stands in the way of my soul’s highest potential, because that is what I desire most. I know that my reality is a mirror of my current level of consciousness. I get that my reactions to how life is unfolding draws more of the same to me and I know intimately well how to “work my process”. So now I try to catch myself when my ego tries to create an identity around what I do or tries putting structure on the flow that is Life itself. I know this is happening because I begin to feel an uneasy pressure and anxiousness that tells me I am lagging behind, have to catch up, need to get done, need to get it right…be good enough.
I believe that encoded in each of our souls’ is a seed of potential that is so magnificent and perfectly tailored, that it is a fool’s game to try to manifest anything… because we already are THAT! It’s just been obscured by all the stories we buy into about who we are and what our purpose is supposed to be. All we have to do is surrender to the Divine flow that is Life, God, Goddess, The Divine itself …and I believe that’s where the “peace that passeth understanding”, our Soul’s Purpose, and our greatest joy, reside.
Manifest with the Law of Attraction? Maybe not so fast. Dream big, create those to-do lists, vision boards, and ideal scenes, but at the end of the day, let it all go, take a deep breath and surrender to the energy of ‘God as you wish”. Trust your Soul and let that divine connection take you to your own promised land already encoded right inside of you!
